The Canada Palestine Film Festival is now accepting submissions for our Second Annual festival scheduled for Fall 2005, as well as our Third Annual festival in Fall 2006. We are especially interested in submissions from Palestinian directors, cinematographers, and artists, but we will also consider related work by other film-makers. Works being accepted include documentary, fiction, animation, and experimental films, and include both shorts and feature-length films of any type. (For submissions with dialogue, English sub-titles are preferred for preview copies. However, the festival itself may feature some films with sub-titles in both English and/or French.)

CRITERIA & FORMAT

The Canada Palestine Film Festival is a not-for-profit project committed to informing Canadians about the history of Palestine, as well as the Palestinian national struggle against colonization, dispossession, ethnic cleansing, and military occupation.

Criteria for film choice will be based on artistic merit, technical skill, and content. We are primarily interested in the work of film-makers of Palestinian origin. Preference will be given to newer films, OR older films that have either not yet premiered in Canada or have only been shown in specific cities or deserve wider recognition.

Preview copies of films should be submitted on VHS or DVD, in North American (NTSC) format (preferable) or PAL (if NTSC is not possible).

Broadcast-quality copies of films selected for screening at the Canada Palestine Film Festival can be submitted on Beta-SP (preferable), DVD, VHS, 16mm or 35mm, in NTSC format. Some PAL and multi-area DVD's may be possible, but filmmakers and distributors are advised to contact our organizing committee to ensure technical compatibility.

DEADLINE

The deadline for all submissions of films for the 2nd Annual Canada Palestine Film Festival is August 1, 2005. Filmmakers wishing to submit films completed after this date are advised to contact CanPalNet, or submit a preview copy for possible inclusion in the following year's film festival. Items submitted to the Canada Palestine Film Festival can be returned if requested. Submission does not guarantee screening of the film. However, there is no entry fee for submitting a film.

The deadline for submissions to the 3rd Annual festival in Fall 2006 is August 1, 2006.
