"Sunset Over Qalqiliya" (Video Installation)

Wednesday, Sept. 28th - Sunday, Oct. 2nd

Old Market Autonomous Zone, 3rd Floor, 91 Albert Street (above Mondragon).

Sunset Over Qalqiliya StillMontreal activist Danielle Sara Frank's video piece "Sunset Over Qalqiliya" will premiere in Winnipeg, as part of an "Art & Occupation" exhibit (along with work by photographer Darren Ell), in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Canada Palestine Film Festival.

The joint exhibit will commence at the festival's "grand opening" wine & cheese gala on Wednesday, Sept. 28th at 7:30pm, and then run Thursday to Sunday from 1-4pm and 6-9pm each day.

Earlier in the week, Danielle and Darren will both participate in a panel discussion entitled "Art, Activism, & Palestine" at Mondragon (91 Albert) on Tuesday, Sept. 27th at 7:30pm.

Danielle Sara Frank seriously believes that art has the potential to create social change. Her sculpture and video work has been exhibited in North America, Europe, and Asia. After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2003, Frank proceeded directly to Israel/Palestine. There, she spent six months in the West Bank documenting the devastating effects of the occupation and working together with solidarity groups and Palestinian people using tactics of nonviolent direct action. She is also one of the organizers of the Three Cities Against the Wall, an exhibition developed by collectives in New York, Ramallah, and Tel Aviv that will open simultaneously in all three cities in November 2005 and feature artwork that takes a stand against the Wall. Danielle's work, both in social justice and art, is driven by her faith in the human will to resist domination.
