Winner of the Human Rights Watch Film Festival’s 2003 Nestor Almendros Award for Courage in Film Making, Rana’s Wedding is a single frenzied day in the life of a 17-year-old Palestinian woman who awakens one morning to an ultimatum delivered by her father: either choose a husband from a pre-selected list of eligible men, or join her father in Egypt and continue her college education. Rana, however, envisions another option: to marry her boyfriend Khalil, a Ramallah-based theatre director. With only ten hours to find Khalil, Rana finds herself frustrated at every turn by the obstacles and horrors of the Israeli occupation.
